Are you sure we are awake?

This week is the program's drama practicum. This means that in what theatre companies do in two months, we do in a week! We learn all of the blocking, do costuming, and combined with our constant line memorizing, we perform on Friday the 17th!! It's going to be a BLAST-the cast is great. I, once Heather O'Brien, do present Demetrius. He, yes he, is one of the four lovers who escape, or follow in fury, to the wood where their problems begin. I am beat up in the play...eek! I have my back pounded, I am kneed in the groin area (the director was like it's a good thing we have a girl playing Demetrius! thanks!), and I have my face stage slapped (Christie does the motion while I slap my hand). My character is rather a jerk yet he has his redeeming moments-after the lovers wake up! However, to comment on the sinister views of Shakespeare, Demetrius is the only character once enchanted, is not removed from that enchantment. that's just my English major in me though....lol! Well, the play will be so much fun to perform-the dance that the Mechanicals do at the end is absolutely wonderful! Dancing in the moonlight-very fitting!! I love that I am required to laugh through the play within the play because I clearly am not forcing myself-I happily laugh myself through that entire thing, well except for when I interupt the characters.
My costume...what do I say about it. Well, my blazer looks like a ringmaster's, my boater hat is funny, and my white shirt is WAY too big for me! I get to wear a tie, or cravat, which will be fun! THankfully she wants Demetrius bookish so I get to keep my glasses, otherwise I'd be screwed.
Break two to my best friend at Theatre Western (Western University) whose opening night of Sweeney Todd is tonight! Scooter you'll do great-I can't wait to see pictures of the plether overalls!!!
ANyway, for those in the play-break a leg, and for those who won't see it I will DEFINETLY be sending pictures! my costume cannot be described well in words (even though I attempted above!)
"Lord, what fools these mortals be!"
