at the club...or was it the bowling alley?

Now when most people go bowling they go, throw the ball down the alley, hope they do well, and then go home. HA! 13 girls+ stressful week+ 80's/90's music= clubbing at the bowling alley! This is me dancing away at the black light, rock n bowl style of bowling. SO MUCH FUN! We did the dance from Midsummer's Night Dream...LOL! Posted by Picasa

Bowling fun!

Hey Kels, maybe if we blow across the top of our bottles we can play Happy Birthday in two part harmony! Posted by Picasa

Any Shakespeare in Love fans?

Saturday we went to Broughton Castle, the home of lovely Lord and Lady Sele, with the family name of Fiennes...spark your knowledge? We went on a private tour and wow...I loved it so much. The rooms are so pretty, again making me wish I lived there. I however, absolutely ADORED the grounds. The rose garden, though not in bloom, was so pretty. Very well landscaped, with certain bushes formed in different shapes. Now the name of Fiennes, did it spark any interest? Well I hope it did because Joseph and Ralph Fiennes, both prominent actors, are cousins of Lord and Lady Sele! Now think to the film Shakespeare in Love, when you first see a shot of Lady Viola's house....that's right this castle was the home of Viola de Lessup in the movie:) I got to wander a movie set, on a private tour. The balcony that Gweneth Paltrow goes on, yeah that is not part of the castle, they built that specifically. And they had at least 150 cardboard boxes to break Joseph Fienne's stunt double's fall (the scene where he climbs the balcony for the first time and sees the nurse, screams, and falls!) and they were extra careful cause that stunt double had broken his leg on the Titanic...lol!
The castle was extremely cold inside, unlike the warm weather outside. But I guess that is the other side of the coin. Maybe they have a cute son or cousin or something that is need of a girlfriend.... Posted by Picasa

So this is me playing a boy...

Here I am playing Demetrius in our production of A Midsummer's Night Dream. Christie MacPhail is the one sitting whilst Kristie Roberts is the one whom I am angered with. What do you guys think of the outfit-for me the blazer is what is great, yet the hat adds a certain je ne sais qua (spelling, it's 1 am please forgive me!)
Anyway, the play was absolutely so much fun, and everyone loved it. My host family called it "brilliant!" I will miss doing this, but perhaps I may audition next year for the school play.
I thought you all would enjoy me looking silly! Posted by Picasa

AAAAAAA! I'm still on the adrenaline, or is the after-party fun, from tonight! I had a BLAST doing our play. Of course, there were the odd forgetting of lines and cues but on the whole everyone did a fantastic job! How I wish we could perform it again, especially now that I know my lines and cues down pat! I loved the fight scene and the scene previous to that where just Hermia and I come on stage. She basically beat me up, knee in groin area and face slap, and seeing as I played a guy I really played that up. Our Joey/Chandler handshake turned into hug went very well. Yet, the highlight of the play was DEFINETLY the play within a play! thankfully we were told to laugh and I didn't need worry! I just laughed. "Right and Sinister (left in Shakespearean lingo)!!! oh wall, jove shield thee for this and this is the very best of a beast my lord that ere I saw!
People have told me that I should really think of getting into acting, so ABU drama 2007 look out, Heather O'Brien will be auditioning!
People in the play-FANTASTIC JOB
People who missed it-pictures will be posted soon. especially of me in my Demetrius/bert from mary poppins outfit

Our play is preferred!

If we shadows have offended
think but this and all is mended!
Our play is tonight! Oh my word, I hope that I can remember everything. I just need to stay focus, but apparently our stage slap went really well. I just need to make sure my sleeves are out of the way! I'm so excited, yet scared at the same time, but this is always how I am on the first, or in this case the only, night. There's such an adrenaline rush the first night and then after the show you're just flying on clouds you're so excited!
Break two to all who perform tonight and to those awaiting pictures and a complete story, well wait till sunday for tomorrow I will fly this place and through London's gate am I advised to steal! (shakespeare has probably now rolled over in his grave)!

Saturday, come quick!

This Friday is our performance. Saturday, as my recovery, Heather M and I are going to London! We are going to Westminster Abbey and then to a musical of sometime.
Really I'm posting this so I can test out putting up pictures!
I'll update about London on Sunday! Posted by Picasa

Are you sure we are awake?

This week is the program's drama practicum. This means that in what theatre companies do in two months, we do in a week! We learn all of the blocking, do costuming, and combined with our constant line memorizing, we perform on Friday the 17th!! It's going to be a BLAST-the cast is great. I, once Heather O'Brien, do present Demetrius. He, yes he, is one of the four lovers who escape, or follow in fury, to the wood where their problems begin. I am beat up in the play...eek! I have my back pounded, I am kneed in the groin area (the director was like it's a good thing we have a girl playing Demetrius! thanks!), and I have my face stage slapped (Christie does the motion while I slap my hand). My character is rather a jerk yet he has his redeeming moments-after the lovers wake up! However, to comment on the sinister views of Shakespeare, Demetrius is the only character once enchanted, is not removed from that enchantment. that's just my English major in me though....lol! Well, the play will be so much fun to perform-the dance that the Mechanicals do at the end is absolutely wonderful! Dancing in the moonlight-very fitting!! I love that I am required to laugh through the play within the play because I clearly am not forcing myself-I happily laugh myself through that entire thing, well except for when I interupt the characters.
My costume...what do I say about it. Well, my blazer looks like a ringmaster's, my boater hat is funny, and my white shirt is WAY too big for me! I get to wear a tie, or cravat, which will be fun! THankfully she wants Demetrius bookish so I get to keep my glasses, otherwise I'd be screwed.
Break two to my best friend at Theatre Western (Western University) whose opening night of Sweeney Todd is tonight! Scooter you'll do great-I can't wait to see pictures of the plether overalls!!!
ANyway, for those in the play-break a leg, and for those who won't see it I will DEFINETLY be sending pictures! my costume cannot be described well in words (even though I attempted above!)
"Lord, what fools these mortals be!"
